Tittle: Communications Manager, Local Media Development Communications
Duration: Long term contract
Location: Philadelphia, PA – 19103 (4 Days Onsite per week)
Pay Range: $40- $45/hr. on W2

The Communications Manager is an integral role serving the department’s highly dynamic communications team.
The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator and writer, with a proven track record of creating engaging content across print, digital, online, and social media channels. A minimum of five (5) years of relevant professional experience in communications or a related field is required, with experience in social media brand management a strong plus. Writing samples or a link to the candidate’s portfolio required for consideration.
Responsibilities
- Serves as a key writer on the team, who meaningfully contributes to the department’s internal and external communications strategy and tactics.
- Develops communications materials for the department’s platforms in the appropriate established voice for each format and audience.
- Supports development of strategic communications plans and messaging for the department.
- Produces engaging content for use in communication campaigns, e-newsletters, websites, social media, and other placements reaching both internal and external audiences.
- Supports occasional video shoots and social media content capture, including working with influencer talent.
- Serves as liaison for communications requests for the department-managed headquarters campus teams — Campus Experiential Content and Town Hall — including copyediting and fact-checking event pages and newsletters for employee events, experiences, and screenings.
- Supports editorial planning, social media content, and website updates for the department’s public platforms, Newsmakers and Voices of the Civil Rights Movement.
- Contributes to platform messaging for recognition of commemorative months and milestone moments, featured on the corporate website, employee blog, newsletters, and social media.
- Supports advertising, comment moderation, reporting, and troubleshooting on enterprise social media management system used for department-owned platforms and initiatives.
- Supports the Senior Communications Manager in developing project-based executive summaries, and quarterly and seasonal reports delivered to senior leadership.
- Collaborates effectively with colleagues across a cross-functional department.
- Consistently exercises independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
- Regular, consistent, and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary.
