Summary
Student Support Assistants preform an essential role in the delivery of educational based services. This is a direct care position with a primary responsibility of working 1:1 or in larger group ratios with students identified with intellectual, emotional or physical disabilities and challenging behaviors.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Implements, models, and assists staff and caregivers with implementation of Positive Behavior Support Plans and Individual Treatment Plans, as designed by Behavioral Specialists, located in school, home or community settings as specified in the individual plan.
- Collects, compiles, gathers, and organizes student data as required (i.e. collects, enters, and graphs ABA data) for monthly progress review.
- Completes daily required documentation and monitors students appropriately
- Supports student development of various behavioral and emotional skills as specified in the PBSP
- Assists caregivers and staff with addressing therapeutic needs of the student
- Assist with or implement transition programming in the school or community settings.
- Assist school personnel (director, administrative assistant, teacher, teacher assistant, etc) or student to arrange the school's environment to best meet the student's physical and psychological needs.
- Assist school personnel with creating, copying, grading of classroom and student materials.
- Assist with/document proper crisis intervention, Positive Behavior Support Plan intervention, ABA-based intervention and prevention techniques.
- Perform Personal Care duties with toileting, eating and grooming activities when necessary.
- Communicate to the teacher learning issues that a student(s) may be experiencing with assigned tasks.
- Demonstrates creativity and flexibility with the daily routine of the school day
- Assists with other needs throughout the building (van duty, driving, laundry, cleaning, dietary, etc.)
- Participates in in-service trainings, professional development, and supervision sessions.
- Performs specific RBT responsibilities as assigned and permitted, based on training experience and competency.
- Completes all trainings as required.

Required Qualifications
Licensure, Education, & Experience (All States)
- High School diploma or equivalent, preferred
- Current CPR, AED and First Aid, preferred
- Valid Drivers License Preferred.
- 2 or more years' experience working with children in an educational, hospital or home setting preferred.
- Experience working with Special Education students in a school setting or behavioral interventions in a community based setting preferred.

- Ability to complete Safety Care within 90 of days after hire.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, climb stairs, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit, stoop, twist, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift up to 50 pounds and carry up to 25 pounds. The employee may occasionally be required to maintain a wide balanced stance while supporting at least partial bodyweight of a student. The employee must seldom carry up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately quiet & indoors. This position will require local travel. This position will be scheduled based on operational need & will be required to provide own transportation. Incumbent may be exposed to virus, disease, and/or infection from clients in the work environment. Incumbent may be exposed to traumatic situations (i.e. psychiatric).
