GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have an associate degree in a business/management related subject (Bachelor’s preferred) with at least two years of experience in a leadership/management position or have four years of experience in a leadership/management.
- Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification preferred
- Background experience in Root Cause Analysis strongly preferred.
- Background experience in Continuous Improvement strongly preferred.
- Background experience in Lean Manufacturing strongly preferred.
- Must be able to receive clearance from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE).
- Must have good written and oral communication skills.
- Must have computer skills and be able to create documents in Microsoft Excel with formulas.
- Be able to read drawings.
- Must be able to work well with others and motivate employees.
- Be able to work well under the pressure of ensuring that requirements and specifications are met.
- Background in International Organization for Standardization (ISO)
- Be able to work altered shift, hours or overtime as required.
JOB DUTIES:
- Supervise staff of Production Assemblers over multiple product lines.
- Schedule staffing and approve vacations to provide necessary coverage.
- Ensure through staff that the manufacturing process and product meet quality requirements by performing inspections, and audits of processes and materials.
- Oversee that all associates are properly trained and maintain training matrices per line and associate.
- Participate with Facility Manager to complete scheduled Performance Reviews for direct reporting staff.
- Report daily and weekly production status to upper management.
- Must read and ensure compliance with contract requirements.
- Must be committed to ISO and the company's Quality Management System using process approach and risk based thinking methodologies.
- Ensure the Quality Policy and quality objectives are communicated to direct report employees.
- Shares accountability for the effectiveness of the Quality Management System.
- Ensure department is in compliance with ISO requirements.
- Participate in Yearly Management Review of all ISO documentation as scheduled.
- Will participate in development of Hazards Analysis.
- Responsible for writing procedures for production line, creating Assembler Inspection Sheets (AIS's) and creating Production Schedules.
- Assist in scheduling and managing outside contractors for project work. Create timeline schedules.
- Must be actively involved and working closely with the Facility Manager and Director of Operations for the planning, coordination, and control of manufacturing processes.
- Actively responsible for both human and material resources by communicating concerns and needs to the Facility Manager.
- Understand and follow production processes and communicate to the Facility Manager for adjusting schedules as needed to meet Company goals and objectives. Ensure production employees understand daily, weekly and monthly goals.
- Ensure a smooth production flow to complete production goals and meet contract requirements.
- Notify Facility Manager of any potential bottlenecks to production flow that would impede flow and cause production delays.
- Ensure production employees have the necessary tools, production trays, equipment, forms, procedures, etc. to maintain production flow to avoid double handling and shutting down workstations. Communicate any potential concern to the Facility Manager.
- Review and ensure accuracy prior to approval of AIS’s. Ensure all documents are accurately completed by production employees prior to submission.
- Ensure all production tasks have clear and concise written instructions provided to production employees.
- Report to the Facility Manager any problems experienced on the production lines.
- Work with the Safety and Training Manager, or designee to coordinate and prepare for maintenance work and Preventive Maintenance (PM’s) as scheduled.
- Move from shift to shift or alter scheduled hours as required.
- Must be safety focused ensuring health and safety guidelines are followed. Responsible for the safety of all employees, equipment and facility. Monitor employees to ensure compliance with safety rules.
- Perform periodic safety audits in order to recognize hazards that affect employee safety.
- Work with the Training Supervisor to identify training needs.
- Provide training and aid to new personnel for the safe and efficient use of equipment and machinery.
- Remain current on new and improved manufacturing and supervisory techniques and methods and ensure staff is properly trained.
- Supervise other product lines when required.
- Apply the appropriate corrective action to non-conforming situations.
- Ensure operators are cross training within the department whenever necessary to ensure no interruption in production due to lack of trained employees.
- Participate in Safety Meetings held for employees. Assist with presentation as necessary.
- Responsible for ensuring correct revisions of forms, procedures, etc. are available and being used. Responsible for destroying all old form revisions when new revisions are released and submitting old procedure revisions to the Management Assistant/Document Control Coordinator.
