Quality Supervisor Position Overview
Oversees inspection and testing of materials, parts, and products to ensure adherence to established standards. Supervises the quality team in accordance with organizational policies and goals. Ensures proper functioning of the quality department processes/procedures with a continuous improvement mindset. Supports operations groups with their quality control needs. Familiar with a variety of process control concepts, practices, and procedures. Develops and maintains good working relationship with employees, vendors, inspectors and customers. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
Principal Accountabilities
- Working knowledge of AS9100 Aerospace Quality Management System practices/procedures
- Ability to read/interpret blueprints, MBD, specifications
- Must have GD&T knowledge, Catia experience a plus
- Good people relationship building skills
- People management skills
- Ability to provide direction and support to department staff
- Conduct performance reviews
- Excel skills should be intermediate to advanced
- Self-starter, able to manage one's own time, and the time of the department
- Must have the ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand
- Must be able to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
- Performs a variety of tasks as required and have excellent follow up skills
- Ensure all required M&TE calibrations are completed on schedule
- Monitor activities of assigned employees to ensure compliance with all applicable procedures
- Plan and manage schedules, allocate personnel for Inspection, Non-destructive test and test lab including overtime and weekends as needed.
- Support quality improvements at all levels and work with all disciplines to ensure effective root cause and corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with receiving inspection processes including required testing completion
- Knowledge of shelf-life materials and manage risk for material recertification requirements
- Pro-active support of safety practices, investigate industrial incidents to determine root cause and implement corrective actions to prevent re-occurrence.
- Support all shipping related quality functions i.e., signing of shippers, AIS, Certificates of Conformance
- Ensure that all personnel maintain their needed certifications and training requirements.
- Supervise approximately 40 direct reports, including time keeping approvals, vacation schedules and overtime management and performance reviews.
Experience and Education Qualifications
- Must be a US Citizen or a Permanent resident per ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) guidelines.
- This position is not eligible for Visa sponsorship or a foreign person per ITAR.
- Associate Degree (Preferred)
- Quality control: 5 years’ experience preferred
