As a Biomedical Technician / Biomedical Equipment Support Specialist (BESS) supporting the Veterans Health Administration (VHA), National Biomedical Contractor Support Services IDIQ project, you will be trusted to provide exceptional health care that improves Veteran health and well-being. This mission guides the Office of Healthcare Technology Management's (HTM) support for patient care to provide the right care, in the right place, at the right time.
The ideal Biomedical Technician / Biomedical Equipment Support Specialist (BESS) performs duties related to biomedical equipment, device, or system inspection, installation, asset management, preventive maintenance, scheduled maintenance, troubleshooting, and / or repair. This position also supports the medical device integration with the VA's Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM). This biomedical technician possesses skills necessary to inspect, install, maintain, and sustain biomedical equipment and devices that may be integrated or interfaced with the new electronic health record.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Inspect selected new medical equipment or devices and perform quality assurance check to assure that equipment conforms to manufacturer literature for components, parts, and performance.
- Install selected new medical equipment or devices in accordance with manufacturer's literature, certification to perform installation actions, and / or biomedical engineering department authorization to perform installation.
- Operationalize new medical equipment or devices so that items perform designed functions in accordance with manufacturer's literature.
- Inventory and determine asset location and availability in accordance with medical equipment and / or asset management records.
- Perform preventive maintenance checks in accordance with manufacturer's literature and / or biomedical engineering department's standard operating procedures.
- Perform troubleshooting of equipment or device malfunction to determine source or cause of defect or malfunction.
- Perform scheduled and / or unscheduled maintenance per certification for designated medical equipment or devices or biomedical engineering department's authorization to perform maintenance and repair of designated equipment and devices.
