Hours: Part time , Mon & Thurs 3-11 pm

Payrate: $15.00

Summary:

We are currently seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Nursing Home Floor Technician in Conyers, GA to join our team. Heavy housekeepers/floor care technicians are generally responsible for the overall floor maintenance of hard surface and carpet (dust and wet mopping, stripping, waxing, buffing, shampooing, extraction & bonneting) of areas that include offices, resident rooms, corridors, lobbies, entrances, stairwells and other public areas such as dining rooms. Other required duties may be assigned by the supervisor such as light maintenance (bulb changing, etc.). Performs environmental services activities within well established guidelines and assigned areas to ensure that quality standards, safety guidelines and customer service expectations are met. The heavy housekeeper/floor technician is responsible for satisfactory and timely completion of assigned cleaning area according to schedule. Reports equipment/cleaning product needs and or malfunctions to supervisor in a timely fashion. Is responsible for the safe and proper mixing and use of cleaning solutions and adheres to all safety precautions. The heavy housekeeper/floor care technician is responsible for collecting trash/recycling/soiled linen from the units and for the proper disposal of trash/recycling/laundry in an outside/soiled linen barrel container. Work involves pulling and pushing, carrying weight up to 50 pounds, twisting, bending and reaching from floor to waist height and from waist to above head. Applies stripper to floors (slippery surface) to remove old wax then refinishes floors with new wax product. Some outside work may be assigned, including policing grounds. Performs all other duties as assigned. Able to follow oral instructions, is pleasant, tactful and courteous and cooperative with supervisor, co-workers, residents and client staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Floor Care
  • Floor care in areas that include offices, resident rooms, corridors, lobbies, entrances, stairwells and other public areas such as dining rooms. Dry mops, wet mops, strip & wax, wet vac, sweeps and disinfects. Places mop in wringer, and bends knees and waist to apply pressure on wringer handle. Changes water in 15 gallon bucket every 2 hallways. Lifts ringer out of bucket; lifts bucket 2 to 3 ft off the ground to empty bucket into slop sink.
  • Buffs and burnishes hard surface floors.
  • Vacuums, shampoos, bonnets and extracts carpets, stairwells and upholstery.
  • Project Work
  • High dusting projects – cleaning and dusting walls in hallways, resident rooms and common areas where a ladder or special equipment is needed.
  • Trash pick-up
  • Empties unit trash bins. Empties, cleans and relines unit trash bins and transports and places bags in dumpster. Checks rooms again and empties trash as needed while cleaning individual rooms.
  • Equipment maintenance and safety
  • Obeys all safety requirements and procedures at all times.
  • Performs preventative maintenance check on all equipment prior to use.
  • Secures work area and posts proper safety notices for other users of the space prior to beginning work. Is safety conscious while working to avoid cuts, sprains or other injuries.
  • Reports observations concerning structural and equipment wear, defects and malfunctioning to supervisor.
  • Reports supply and equipment needs to supervisor for replenishing.
  • Maintains equipment used in performing duties.
  • Customer Service
  • Ensures that established sanitation and safety standards are maintained.
  • Interacts appropriately with residents, client, other personnel, supervisor and the public.
  • Responds to customer preferences, complies with industry and federal and state guidelines, and meets the needs of residents.
  • Must respond to the paging system in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Follows infection control and universal precautions policies and procedures to ensure that a sanitary environment is maintained at all times. Follow proper reporting, isolation and hand washing procedures/techniques.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent us preferred
  • Minimum 1 1⁄2 years experience in floor care preferred, but on-site training is provided.
  • Ability to understand oral instructions and ability to be trained required.
  • Ability to recognize hazards and follow appropriate protective equipment measures, read and understand MSDS sheets, and communicate with coworkers as to such.
  • Personal cleanliness.
  • Pleasant, tactful, courteous.
  • Ability to cooperate with other employees.
  • Willingness to perform routine, repetitive tasks on a continuous basis.
  • Must be able to accomplish all responsibilities without supervision or other employee assistance after the training period is completed, and do so without injury to oneself or other individuals.
  • Must be able to fully understand and complete all In-Services.
  • Must provide a criminal background check.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $15.00 per hour

  • Monday to Friday

Experience:

  • Janitorial: 3 years (Required)
  • Stripping and waxing Floors: 3 years (Required)
