Position Overview
The Production Manager will oversee all aspects of production operations, ensuring efficient workflow, on-time delivery, and adherence to quality standards across digital and offset printing, bindery, and mailing services. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and operational knowledge to manage production teams, optimize processes, and support the company’s growth.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management:
Lead and manage production staff across multiple departments, including, prepress, pressroom, bindery, and mailing services.
Foster a collaborative team environment with clear communication, accountability, and professional development.
Schedule and allocate workloads to meet production deadlines and optimize capacity.
Part of hiring process.
Must be a team player and have good communication skills.
Production Workflow:
Oversee daily production operations to ensure efficient job execution.
Utilize EFI Pace MIS for scheduling, resource planning, and job tracking.
Implement and monitor production schedules, adjusting priorities as needed to meet customer deadlines.
Ensure accurate job costing and inventory management to control costs and maximize profitability.
Quality Control:
Maintain quality standards across all production processes, from prepress through final delivery.
Troubleshoot and resolve production issues to minimize errors and rework.
Process Improvement:
Identify and implement process improvements to streamline operations, reduce waste, and increase efficiency.
Monitor equipment maintenance schedules and recommend capital investments or upgrades as necessary.
Communication & Coordination:
Serve as the liaison between production teams, sales, customer service, and senior management to align job requirements and expectations.
Collaborate with sales and estimating to ensure accurate project scopes, timelines, and costs.
Compliance & Safety:
Uphold workplace safety standards and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Enforce company policies and safety protocols for all production areas.
Qualifications
Experience:
5 years of experience in production management, preferably in a commercial printing environment.
Proven experience with offset and digital printing processes, bindery, and mailing operations.
Experience using EFI Pace or similar Print MIS systems for job scheduling and management.
Skills:
Strong leadership, team building, and communication skills.
Excellent problem-solving and process optimization abilities.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Technical knowledge of print production equipment and workflows.
Additional Asks:
Familiarity with mailing regulations and USPS requirements is a plus.
Commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence.
