What are the responsibilities and job description for the Trauma Quality Audit Nurse (RN) position at Qsource?
The Trauma Quality Audit RN performs RN auditor functions within the state of Arkansas.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Annual review of designated trauma centers
- Attend the TAC and TRAC meetings in assigned regions, including the QI / TRAC Sub Committee meetings and TRAC Quality Improvement meetings.
- Identify educational needs based on performance improvement data.
- Participate in training activities for trauma care providers.
- Communicate with Qsource internal and external customers, as appropriate to complete auditing functions, as appropriate to complete state-sanctioned quality improvement work.
- Ability to analyze findings in such a way as to create statistical reports regarding performance measures.
- Ability to report aggregate performance measures to facilities in a timely fashion and in an ADH-approved format.
- Ability to report aggregate performance measures to regional and statewide advisory councils and staff members at ADH.
- Ability to work with medical directors of EMS agencies and hospitals to obtain medical information when opportunities for improvement in patient care are identified.
- An understanding of trauma performance improvement and root cause analysis review.
- Must be able to produce high-quality completed work products.
- Knowledge of medical records, ICD-10-CM, and CPT coding principles.
- Knowledge of medical Utilization Review (UR) and Quality Improvement (QI) concepts.
- Must be able to maintain a customer-driven process.
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license to practice in the State of Arkansas required
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
- Licensed EMT or paramedic preferred.
- Society for Trauma Nursing’s TOPIC course
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
- Arkansas Trauma Society’s Trauma Registration Course
- Arkansas Trauma Registry course
- Certified Abbreviated Injury Scale Specialist (CAISS)
- Minimum of five or more years of clinical trauma care experience.
- Three years of experience applying injury severity score (ISS) coding and completing the AAAM AIS coding course.
- Experience in Utilization Review (UR) and / or Quality Improvement (QI) preferred.
- Employee will constantly communicate with others regarding employment-related information or instruction and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
- This role requires constant use of standard office equipment such as computers and telephones to receive and share information.
- Employee must be able to read and interpret information displayed on a computer screen.
- Employee must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time.
- This role occasionally requires the employee to lift light objects up to 25 pounds.
