Job Summary :
Responsible for supporting Release and Automation teams, with strong planning and coordination of all phases and activities involved in configuration nonprod / prod environments and release of applications and updates into the production environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Facilitate release-planning meetings with key stakeholders to identify proper sequencing of releases. Ensures that issues and risks are identified, understood, and dealt with in a manner that mitigates risk to scope and schedule.
- Define and documents the release recommendation for each release and / or change to production. Includes release scope, schedule, deliverables, and roll back plan.
- Review the release recommendation with key stakeholders and release / automation engineers.
- Oversee release decisions and processes in terms of the big picture / cross-team impacts.
- Maintain release management schedule for specific (or assigned personnel) and applications.
- Document and communicate all changes for releases in an email which are sent to all IT.
- Attend Production Change Control (PCC) meetings and deployment planning meetings to collect data and information pertaining to the releases and work for the release and automation teams.
- Coordinate and communicates across multiple scrum teams to plan and execute deployments across multiple environments.
- Pursue IT and Project compliance with release acceptance criteria.
- Coordinate and schedules key change to production activities. This includes the tracking of all elements with team leads as the project moves through testing phases into production.
- Accommodate a flexible schedule as most releases occur outside of regular business hours.
- Support release execution by monitoring of each phase of the release. Validates the release as it progresses thru various release gates and test phases and alerts appropriate stakeholders of any errors or issues that need to be addressed.
- Provide release coordination and communication during and after deployment.
- Verify capture of customer acceptance / signoff on deliverables to make sure tickets are closed after releases.
- Identify opportunities to make strategic improvements to the release management process.
- Maintain documentation of several processes for both release and automation teams.
- Create release management standards and procedures. Educates teams on the release methodology and strategy.
- Collect feedback from the users of release management standards and identifies the need to modify or retire a standard based on the feedback.
- Integrate the release process with other IT processes including ITSM, Security and Agile processes
- Work closely with Change and Configuration Management team of the ITSM Unit to stay current on all change, configuration and internal controls standards and processes.
- Strictly manage timing and coordination of UAT releases with competing projects and client stakeholders sharing pre-production UAT releases.
- Manage overall non-production UAT environment releases.
