What are the responsibilities and job description for the Custom Designer (Industrial/Lighting) position at QTL?

If so, as a Custom Designer for QTL, you will help support the custom design needs of our customers. This is a high-growth, fast paced company with innovative products and an opportunity to make an impact. The products you design will be some of our shortest time to market products – and could become part of our standard offering.
Specifically, you will…
- Enhance our product offering by designing customizations to our existing lighting products based on unique customer requirements within short, dynamic timeframes
- Handle design documentation and specification for off-the-shelf and customized products in a timely fashion
- Collaborate with Manufacturing, Engineering, Production, and Marketing to develop modified build instructions, production methods, and customer facing data sheets
- Work with our manufacturing partners to find custom parts for use in designs as required
- Work with the Sales team and communicate updates to them on their ongoing projects
- Assist Production to be more efficient by creating JIGS and troubleshooting build issues.
This is a hands-on role where you will move from concept to drawings to production in rapid succession. The ability to generate quality, thoughtful, and well-engineered designs quickly is a must.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- B.S of Industrial Design or product development/ design management
- 0-3 years’ professional experience as an Industrial Designer
- AutoCAD, Adobe CC- a must. PDM and Fusion 360- a plus
- Experience in product lighting/ power supply industry a plus
- Experience with Molding or Aluminum Extruding design a plus
- Ability to manage multiple projects at the same time
