The Manager, DevOps is responsible for managing the DevOps team. This team is responsible for the configuration, deployment, monitoring/troubleshooting and maintenance of the Services Delivery Platform and QTS OS web applications.
RESPONSIBILITIES, other duties may be assigned.
- People management for the team up to 8 DevOps engineers (including offshore contractors).
- Technical leadership for the DevOps team, focusing on the automation, building scalable and extendable pipelines and monitoring for the development teams.
- Set and manage technical roadmap for the DevOps initiatives across the software platforms. Drive target state with latest toolchains, frameworks and best in-class solutions.
- Work with development teams to apply best DevOps practices for the existing components.
- Manage AWS assets, AWS cost management and building IaaC solution.
- Manage inventory of the cloud / on-prem resources DevOps team is responsible for to provide resilient / available and secure developer environments and tools.
- Create infrastructure/pipelines for new services (SpringBoot, Python, Angular).
- Deploy services on DEV / QA / STAGE / PROD environments.
- Manage the installation and configuration of software solutions.
- Troubleshoot failure cases on Dev / QA / UAT and Prod environments.
- Proactively monitor health and metrics using NewRelic / CloudWatch tools.
- Refactor pipelines, scripts to make them stable, secure, performant and reusable.
- Participate in discussions about solutions to support developer applications and needs.
- Mentor junior DevOps engineers and help to resolve technical issues they are facing.
- Participate in release management process across development teams.
- Deploy code and troubleshoot any issue that arises.
Technical Expertise
- Linux Shell / Windows Powershell.
- Docker / Docker Swarm / AWS Elastic Container Service.
- Ansible / Terraform / GitHub Actions.
- Configuration and support AWS, Jenkins, GitHub.
- DB: Postgres, Cassandra.
- Scripts: Bash, Python / NodeJS or Golang.
- Experience with NewRelic, nginx, Tomcat, Haproxy, Consul, Nexus, LDAP, Kafka.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, engineering, or related field.
- Five or more years of DevOps experience with a focus on Microservices deployment and maintenance.
- At least 1 year of technical leadership for the DevOps team.
- Excellent technical, diagnostic, and troubleshooting skills.
- Knowledge of portal software, design, and development.
- Experience of technical leadership of offshore DevOps personnel.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 5 years of experience working inside DevOps organization.
- Prior experience determining project requirements and developing work schedules for the team.
- Good technical documentation skills.
- Experience with Kubernetes, GPU/CUDA, WebRTC, Forgerock AM.

- Use organizational skills to determine prioritization and appropriate multitasking.
- Focus on scope, tone, and quality of processes and their respective documentation, as well as the associated goals, priorities, deadlines, and weaknesses.
- Ability to work independently, with supervision, on a project of varying complexity.
- People management skills: performance management, hiring, onboarding.
