What are the responsibilities and job description for the Substitute School Nurse position at Quaboag Regional School District?
Primary Function: Providing nursing services to all students as outlined by the District and MA Department of Health
Qualifications:
• Minimum 2 years employment as RN in child health, community health or relevant clinical nursing setting
•Certified in CPR
•Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
•Valid license as RN in the State of Massachusetts
Responsibilities:
• Provide nursing care and first aid to students as needed, including individual medical needs ie: G Tube management & feeds, diabetes, asthma, seizures, etc.
•Work collaboratively with the school staff, parents, and guardians to provide for the healthcare needs of students
•Comply with district and state policies/procedures
•Maintain confidentiality relative to patient care
•Communicate information effectively to appropriate personnel
•Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment for students
•Initiate emergency care as appropriate to circumstance
•Comply and make appropriate referrals regarding applicable health laws, immunization, and communicable diseases
•Comply with accepted ethical conduct and professional standards of nursing practice as set forth by the American Nurses’ Association or equivalent nursing organization
* Be proficient in use of SNAP nursing program for documentation.
