What are the responsibilities and job description for the Transportation Planner position at Quad Cities MetroLink?
Under general direction, provides professional transit planning support for service improvements. Analyzes and interprets data information from transit software, geographical information systems and other databases to determine opportunities for system improvements. Performs community outreach; maintains on-going relationships with industry leaders, and key business partners within organizations, colleges, universities and agencies.
Duties:
- Review and analyzes data from MetroLINK's CAD-AVL system, ArcGIS and other associated transit software and databases to determine opportunities for system improvements and makes recommendations accordingly.
- Assists with monthly, quarterly and annual service reporting, performs data entry, maintains statistics, summarizes current and future activities, and reconciles project budgets.
- Establishes and maintains long-term, on-going relationships with industry leaders and key business partners within organizations, universities, colleges and agencies; promotes MetroLINK's services and develops customized programs to meet business and workforce needs.
- Initiates and maintains regular and effective contact with community organizations, schools, or other relevant groups to increase awareness and usage of agency services. Prepares and delivers related presentations, as necessary; provides materials to community groups, as necessary.
- Solicits and responds to feedback from public and community groups. Researches complaints, problems and prepares responses.
- Represents the organization by participating in various local committees.
- Conducts interagency review of transportation plans; reviews and comments on proposed land use developments and road projects to promote the incorporation of pro transit policies and measures.
- Responsible for changes to fixed route bus schedules and routes, and works with operations staff on development of associated run cuts and vehicle assignments.
- Interacts with bus operators, supervisors, and agency staff to receive and give feedback on route performance.
- Maintains and updates the agency's Title VI Program Assists with organizing public input meetings related to service changes.
- Assists with the development and publication of paper and electronic Ride Guide and accompanying route information.
- Works collaboratively with various departments impacted by ridership data.
- Assists with data collection for demographic, census and DBE reporting.
- Prepares maps, charts, models, sketches and other graphic presentations.
- Coordinates and supports internal and external project activities and events.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in geography, planning, business administration, statistics or a related field; AND two (2) years of demonstrated transit experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience as determined by Human Resources.
Salary : $50,385 - $80,615
