Position Summary:
Reporting to the North American (NA) Controller, The Manager of Accounting will be the owner of the accounting activities for seven legal entities in North America. This position will be responsible for the oversight of a team of six and include training and development of the team. The role will also work closely with Global Financial Business Services (GFBS), Global Consolidations and External Reporting teams to ensure accurate and timely financial results during the month-end and quarter-end close. This role will be a key contact point person in cross-departmental and global finance coordination efforts.
What will you do?
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting team, ensuring the team is effectively aligned with department and company goals.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture, encouraging continuous improvement and professional growth.
- Establish performance objectives and provide ongoing feedback to ensure high levels of performance and accountability.
- Responsible for monthly general ledger close activities including the review of journal entries and monthly reconciliations and flux/trend analysis.
- Partner with the other Accounting Managers (both in NA and globally) and GFBS teams to collaborate and execute accurate, timely and efficient month-end close processes
- Own the results of the assigned entities. Partner with the commercial, operations and other groups to ensure that all entity specific results and questions are understood and accurate.
- Monitor and maintain SOX controls and ensure proper coordination with internal and external auditors for timely completion and execution of all audit work across the defined areas of responsibility.
- Assist in ad-hoc request as needed in coordination with FP&A, Treasury and Tax functions.
- Expectation to propose and implement process efficiencies and improvements.
Required Skills and Competencies:
- Combination of public accounting and corporate industry experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of the month-end close and year-end processes, account analysis and US GAAP financial statement preparation required.
- Extensive knowledge of SOX-404 and experience in the manufacturing or the chemicals industry is a plus.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights.
- Exceptional attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across teams and levels of the organization.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Advanced MS Office Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and knowledge of accounting systems such as JDE and Blackline preferred.
Education, Experience and Training:
- Bachelors degree in business, finance or accounting; CPA required.
- Required Minimum Number of Years of Relevant Experience:
- 7 years of relevant work experience in a manufacturing or chemicals company strongly preferred, showing progression in areas of responsibilities. Previous supervisory experience required.
