Position Summary:
The Trade Compliance Product Specialist manages product data required for Customs import and export declarations. This person determines tariff and export classifications, country of origin, preferential origin status, manages classification data in our systems, and monitors and ensures compliance and consistency with Quaker Houghton policies, processes and regulatory requirements
Job Accountabilities:
Supports the global organization regarding trade compliance activities and/or questions:
- Possesses and builds on knowledge of QH chemistries and products to apply regulations correctly, and communicates with internal and external stakeholders (brokers, suppliers, customers, government agencies, etc.) productively regarding those determinations
- Pursues ongoing development of regulatory knowledge supporting thorough research and analysis of the existing and evolving regulations of trade compliance and beneficial trade programs
- Supports the Global Trade Compliance leader to ensure the organization operates within the requirements of local legislation, sets up and/or maintains, implementation and enforcement of Customs and policies; also supports the business teams in meeting these requirements.
- Determines correct customs reference and maintains data in (JDE) system (HS/CN import and export codes, Origin, Dual Use, etc.); ensures consistent global categorization as well as understanding exception circumstances
- Analyzes trade activities with the expectation of identifying opportunities with an ongoing focus of continuous improvement.
Key Education or Certification Required
- Higher degree or Bachelor level in field of Supply Chain, Material Management, Economics or related field(s) [Commensurate experience may be considered]
Required Minimum Number of Years of Relevant Experience
- 3 to 5 years in customs/excise environment like customs broker, export department, etc. or supporting those activities
- Employee needs to have knowledge of company/industry chemistries
- Employee needs knowledge of international trade nomenclatures (WTO, WCO, EU Taric, harmonized tariff; export as well as import).
- Employee must have knowledge of appropriate legislation and sources: EU customs and Excise Legislation, EU/US sanction legislations and knowledge of trade documentation and dangerous goods.
- Customs Broker's License, Certified Customs Specialist, Customs Practitioner or similar certification preferred
