What are the responsibilities and job description for the Facilities Maintenance Technician position at Quaker Maid Meats, Inc?
Summary:
The primary responsibility of this position is to maintain the buildings and grounds.
Essential duties include but are not limited to:
Become familiar with the plant facility and general operations
Perform construction, maintenance and electrical work: paint, replace fixtures, switches, receptacles and wiring
Perform plumbing; repairs faucets, valves, lines, etc…
Perform welding; tig and stick
Maintain and repair heating, ventilation, air conditioning units and systems.
Perform installation, adjustments, preventative maintenance as needed to keep the facilities maintained and up to date.
Perform carpentry work as needed
Handle tools and equipment properly and to use required protective gear
Read and comprehend blueprints, charts, sketches, building plans and technical repair manuals
Comply with all Federal, State and Company Safety guidelines/procedures and to ensure that the maintenance staff is also in compliance
Conduct inspections looking for breakage or excessive wear, replacing parts and reassembling equipment according to specifications.
Ensure proper inventory is completed
Maintain daily logs and reports on a timely manner
Any other duties as requested by the supervisor or manager
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the education, experience, competency and skill and/or ability required.
Education and or Experience:
High School Diploma and at least three years of experience in mechanical maintenance, repair work; especially related to plant maintenance; or any equivalent combination of education and experience which would provide the following knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Thorough knowledge of standards hand and power tools and equipment used in plant maintenance and repair activities; ability to use and operate hand and power tools such as electrical drills, air drills, hand wrenches, welding and other tools as needed in a safe, efficient manner.
