SUMMARY : The Systems Specialist is responsible for providing technical assistance and troubleshooting for District-wide technology systems, ensuring the functionality and availability of essential tools and services. This includes managing help desk support, diagnosing and resolving technology issues, and maintaining network operations. The role involves configuring, monitoring, and troubleshooting both hardware and software systems, including operating systems, cloud identity management, and telecommunications. The specialist also oversees the District's mobile device management (MDM) environment, software deployment, and security platforms.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Troubleshoots District-wide technology failures and provides help desk support services, setting priorities to ensure most serious issues are handled promptly.
- Complies with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, District policies, and administrative procedures, and reports suspected user violations to supervisor.
- Assists in managing network operations, including troubleshoot connectivity problems, add / terminate users, assign rights and access, reset passwords, assess and report operational status, and perform backup and restore operations.
- Maintains, monitors, and troubleshoots District MDM environments.
- Manage Operating System Deployment Tools.
- Configures, maintains, monitors, and troubleshoots Windows and MAC OSX Images, Patches and software deployments.
- Configures, maintains, monitors, and troubleshoots District cloud identity and access management system (Classlink).
- Ensures high availability and functionality of District printers, copiers, and print management software.
- Reviews and maintains all district software requests in coordination with the Director of Technology
- Assists with overseeing technology specialists and ensures work orders are assigned and prioritized appropriately
- Coordinates disposal of obsolete equipment
- Configures and maintains district telecommunications
- Sets up, installs, and configures computers, printers, and other equipment and software.
- Develops and provides training and technical documentation for Technology staff members.
- Provides feedback to improve technology support services.
- Assists network engineer with configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of district-wide security platforms
- Other duties may be assigned
