Assistant Buyer

Pay : $ 25.00 an hour
We are working with a valued client who has partnered with us to identify their next Assistant Buyer. This position is essential to supporting the buyer and coordinating the purchasing of raw materials to maintain an efficient supply chain and ensure smooth manufacturing operations.
Major Function and Scope
Collaborates with other departments to identify and maintain resources needed to establish and provide an effective supply chain.
Receives orders from customers.
Develops and maintains detailed inventories of materials and supplies located in the company, at sites, and in the factory.
Develops an effective and accurate system for monitoring purchase orders.
Delivers a weekly purchase order report to supervisors, indicating the invoice number for all closed orders.
Submits purchase orders to vendors.
Researches new products and vendors.
Maintains relationships with vendors.
Forecasts purchasing trends to ensure optimal inventory levels.
Sources pallets and packing materials.
Maintains required quantities of supplies and materials to optimize production.
Analyzes current inventories and procedures; suggests improvements to increase supply chain efficiency and company profitability.
Develops policies to increase efficiency throughout the supply chain while ensuring quality and safety; implements subsequent changes to processes.
Identifies optimal shipment and transportation routes with attention to consolidation of warehousing and distribution.
Assesses the need for material-handling equipment and staffing; makes recommendations to ensure efficient loading, unloading, movement, and storage of materials.
Negotiates prices for MRO and delivery with suppliers, vendors, and / or shipping companies.
Participates as an advisory member of the product development team, providing information and guidance on availability and cost of supplies and materials.
Acts as part of the team coordinating engineering changes, product line extensions, or new product launches to ensure timely and orderly material and production flow transitions.
Monitors the performance of suppliers, assessing their ability to meet quality and delivery requirements; identifies and qualifies new suppliers in collaboration with other departments.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Experience, and Competencies
Bachelor’s Degree in Business or a related major.
3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing / production environment.
Must be able to read and follow order procedures.
Proficient in the use of computers.
Responsible, detail-oriented, with strong communication proficiency.
