Structural Drafter 1
As a Structural Drafter, you will utilize computer assisted drafting software programs to develop construction documents for a variety of structural building projects. Your skills and experience will be key in visualizing structural designs, coordinating between design professionals and trades, and developing drawings to manufacture and fabricate innovative construction materials. Your work is vital to take a project from concept to completion. This position may lead to a full-time role within the organization.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare drawings of building structures, using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment and software.
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, and other design and construction professionals to ensure accuracy of drawings.
- Revise drawings based on feedback from clients, engineers, and architects.
- Research building codes and other regulations to ensure drawings meet all applicable standards.
- Use AutoCAD software to create 2D structural drawings, including details, sections, and specifications.
- Use CadWork and REVIT software to create 3D shop drawings for manufacture, fabrication, and assembly.
- Prepare detailed plans and drawings for development of complete structural contract documents, including foundations, and framing.
- Stay up to date on advances in CAD software and technology to maintain a high level of proficiency.
- Attend site visits with engineers to take measurements, photos, and sketch plans for use in modifying existing buildings.
- Adhere to all company drafting standards and procedures.

- While in the field, may require standing for periods of up to 10 hours a day.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 0-3 years’ experience as a drafter or similar role.
- Technical training in drafting or building modeling.
- Proficient in the use of AutoCAD.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Detail-oriented with strong visualization skills.
PREFERRED SKILLS
- Associate’s degree in drafting, construction, or related field.
- Hands-on construction experience.
- Experience with REVIT, CadWork, and/or other BIM software.
- Experience creating production shop drawings.
- Familiarity with building codes and standards.
- Working knowledge of construction methods and materials.

- This role reports to the Director of Structural Engineering.
