Job Context:

The QA Technician is a member of the Food Safety Quality and Regulatory Department, reporting to the Quality Assurance Supervisor. The FSQR Department is instrumental to ensuring and supporting QIC’s efforts to produce food products that meet or exceed all food safety and quality requirements, as well as meeting or exceed the expectations of our customers. The Department’s success relies on the strength of its members and is a function of:

2. Each member’s skills and experience in food manufacturing, and process protocols, are essential to the mission of producing safe quality food for our customers.

3. Each member must be self-motivated with a technical mindset and skills, in order to perform their role

3. Each member must have the ability and desire to work with co-workers and customers to ensure QIC is in compliance with it’s food safety and quality requirements

This position’s time expectations are:

65% manufacturing floor support and auditing

20% laboratory testing and compliance

15% administration and adherence to quality systems

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with established quality systems such as SQF, HACCP, GMP’s, SSOP, process deviation, hold and release. Effectively communicate food safety and quality expectations to employees; engage and support as a resource to employees for compliance, implementation, sustainment and problem-solving.
  • Provide oversight, inspection, and verification of sanitation procedures including preoperational inspections requirements to enable release of equipment for production
  • Review and ensure inline process management of food safety and quality checks are performed in compliance of our quality systems
  • Provide support to operations/manufacturing in areas such as training, special testing, problem resolution, etc
  • Conduct metal detector challenges and observations.
  • Verify the calibration of all scales, thermometers, and other equipment.
  • Monitor GMP’s for compliance, and assist in GMP training.
  • Ensure ingredient and finished product specification compliance.
  • Assist with opportunities by analyzing data, investigating issues, identifying solutions, and recommending action.
  • Perform basic lab analysis (pH, moistures) on finished product.
  • Prepare composite samples of finished product for outside lab testing
  • Perform lab analysis on raw materials
  • Assist with food production and environmental sanitation requirements, environmental monitoring, weekly manufacturing floor audits.
  • Ensure proper and accurate documentation
  • Maintain a clean laboratory and work environment.
  • Additional duties as directed.

Education/Experience/Abilities:

  • Bachelors degree preferred; or minimum high school graduate with minimum 5 years of solid, progressive permanent full time work experience
  • Minimum of 1-3 years experience in food quality including GMP’s, HACCP, SQF, food safety and sanitation, data collection and analysis, laboratory skills, etc.
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without a visa sponsorship
  • Self-starter: Understand the role and can work independently, identifies needed work and executes results, self-directed without specific direction.
  • Dependable and always present when scheduled
  • Professional in appearance and demeanor
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal and oral/written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and solid math skills
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • English language proficiency, both written and verbal
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to follow and teach instructions
  • Ability to use ladders/stairs and stand/walk for long periods of time.

Ability to lift and/or move up to 55 pounds on occasion

Ability to, while performing the duties of this job, to talk or hear. Ability to frequently required to stand; walk; sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.

Schedule A (Monday – Thursday):

  • Monday through Thursday
  • 40 hours (4 X 10)
  • Day shift is 7 AM to 5 PM (NOT OPEN AT THIS TIME)
  • Overnight shift is 7 PM to 5 AM
  • Lunch break paid
  • Pay is $22.00 to $25.00 (DOE)
  • Overnight shift pay supplement = 10% of hourly rate

Schedule B (Friday – Sunday):

  • Friday through Sunday
  • 36 hours (3 X 12)
  • Day shift is 6 AM to 6 PM
  • Overnight shift is 6 PM to 6 AM
  • Scheduled for 36 hours; paid for 40
  • Lunch break paid
  • Pay is $22.00 to $25.00 (DOE)
  • Overnight shift pay supplement = 10% of hourly rate

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 45 per week
