Behavior Technician for an Adult Behavior Day Program
Reports to: Program Manager/Supervisor
Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behavior Technician to join our Adult Behavior Day Program. In this role, you will work directly with adults who have developmental disabilities, mental health disorders, or behavioral challenges. You will assist in implementing individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs), provide 1:1 to 1:3 Support, and help clients achieve personal goals within a structured, supportive environment. This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about improving the quality of life for adults with special needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and treatment strategies as designed by a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
Provide direct, one-on-one support to clients, reinforcing positive behavior and minimizing disruptive behavior.
Collect and document data on clients’ behavior, progress, and response to interventions.
Assist with daily living skills, including communication, socialization, self-care, and other activities as outlined in clients' individual goals.
Maintain a safe and structured environment for all clients.
Foster a supportive, empathetic relationship with clients, helping them build independence and confidence.
Participate in team meetings to review client progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.
Collaborate with other team members, including clinicians, caregivers, and support staff.
Ensure that all program activities are implemented in line with program guidelines and ethical standards.
Provide crisis intervention when necessary, following established protocols.
Assist in the development of new strategies and programs to improve clients' outcomes.
Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent (required); Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related field (preferred).
3 years Experience working with adults with developmental disabilities, mental health disorders, or behavioral challenges (preferred).
Certification as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) or willingness to obtain certification within a specified timeframe (required).
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Compassionate, patient, and empathetic approach to client care.
Ability to implement behavior management techniques and provide positive reinforcement.
Physical ability to assist clients with mobility and other physical needs as required
Full-time Position
Day Shift 8.30 am to 3.30 pm
Ability to lift and assist clients as needed.
Exposure to challenging behaviors and high-stress situations.
