Quality South Inc, of Alabama is looking for YOU! Join our team as a Direct Support Professional for the developmentally disabled, mentally ill or geriatric adults, in a small home setting. Willing to train, while you grow to love our consumers.
Essential Job Functions will include (but will not be limited too):
- Routine handling, dispensation and record keeping of service recipients’ medications within established policies and guidelines.
- Ensure that recipient’s meals are prepared according to diet specifications.
- Aiding and instructing consumers daily in self-care skills i.e. dressing, bathing, etc. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. To assist service recipient transfer.
- Supervising and participating in leisure activities and field trips and transporting consumers.
- Provide individualized services as directed according to person centered plans and needs of the service recipient.
- Data collection and implementation of service recipient programs.
- Routine property maintenance and housekeeping including general cleaning, laundry, window washing, clearing, walkways of snow, etc.
- Compliance with consumer rights as prescribed by Quality South, Inc. and funding source.
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) should foster teamwork, take initiative, and be personably credible. Along with being knowledgeable about and actively support culturally competent, recovery-based practices. Be knowledgeable about person-centered planning as a shared decision making process with the individual, who defines his/her own life goals and is assisted in developing a unique path toward those goals.
Must be able to perform physical activities, including lifting up to 50lbs., transferring service recipients, walking, pushing wheelchairs, kneeling, bending, reaching and occasionally remaining on feet for long periods of time. Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Valid state driver’s license and good driving record.
- Clear TB test.
- Three (3) personal references, two (2) of which will be job or education related.
- Interest in and commitment to serving the needs of the developmentally disabled, mentally ill, and geriatric within the rights afforded them as citizens.
- Clear record of assault, abuse and neglect.
- Successful completion of the post-offer process including criminal history check, drug screening and professional references
