Location: Rochester, NY, On-Site

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00am-4:00pm

Compensation: $95,000-$110,000, based on experience 


The OGP Calibration Lab Director provides overall strategic and tactical leadership of the technical and operational elements of the industry-leading OGP Calibration Lab based in Rochester, New York. 

Requirements

  

  1. ISO-17025:2017 Compliance
  • Leads all aspects of the Lab’s Compliance to ISO 17025:2017 including but not limited to:

o  Support preparations for and execution of accreditation audits by A2LA.

o Ensures impartiality in all activities [ 6.2.1 ]

o Develops and maintains documented competency requirements of all functions within the Laboratory [ 6.2.2 ]

o Ensures personnel have the competence to perform laboratory activities for which they are responsible and to evaluate the significance of deviations. [ 6.2.3 ]

o Communicates to Laboratory personnel their duties, responsibilities, and authorities [ 6.2.4 ]

o Serves as a subject matter expert for OGP Services Field Service calibration activities and oversees internal audits of those activities.

o Leads efforts to expand/revise the Lab’s Scope of Accreditation as needed.

o Oversees the development and implementation of measurement uncertainty models used by the Lab and OGP Services Field Service.


2.  Customer Quality System Support

o Handles customer surveys, inquiries and audits related to OGP Services Quality Management System.

o Serves as a subject matter expert and advisor for customer inquiries for the calibration of measurement standards that the Lab has capabilities for performing.


3. Calibration Lab Facilities & Equipment

o Leads recertification activities related to the Lab’s rated environment. 

o Collaborates with Factory Plant Manager for any repairs and maintenance required.

o Holds responsibility for the selection and commissioning of the Lab’s measurement equipment as needed.


4. New Product & Process Development

o Serves as a subject matter expert and contributor to the application of good metrology practice in the calibration and verification of QVI’s products. 

o Contributes to the selection and/or development of measurement standards used for these products including how those standards will be calibrated consistent with ISO 17025:2017 requirements.


5. Business and Staff Leadership

o Defines the services provided by the Lab and oversees the establishment and maintenance of pricing for those services. 

o Establishes and executes marketing plans to build the Lab’s business. Represents the Calibration Lab in industry events, tradeshows, publications, etc. for purposes of driving Lab recognition and business growth.

o Contributes to the establishment and achievement of business goals for the Lab.

o Recruits, develops, trains and supervises staff as necessary to achieve those goals.


6. Industry and Market Engagement

o Collaborates with the Company’s Chief Metrologist in representing QVI’s  interests with relevant industry standard-setting bodies.

o Engages in metrology-focused conferences, symposiums and forums.

  

Minimum Qualifications: (Experience, Education, Certifications, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities)

· At least a 4-year degree in Engineering, Math, Physics, or related Field is required.

· 5 years of Metrology experience is required. Knowledge of the ISO-17025:2017 standard is required. 

· 3-5 years of Supervisory experience in an Operations and/or Technical role is required.

· Experience with the ISO 10360 is desired but not required.

· Business experience having responsibility for a P&L is desired but not required.

  

Physical and/or Environmental Requirements: 

· Must be able to work standing in a Lab Environment for full 8-hour shifts.

· Must be able to safely and repeatably bend, lift, twist, reach tools and artifacts weighing up to 40lbs from floor level to shelf heights of up to 6 feet.

· Must be able to be exposed to strobing/flashing lights.

· Must have visual acuity (with or without standard prescription eyewear) to detect defects and/or measurement targets down to 0.1mm without magnification (standard capability of the human eye).
