Job Summary:
We are seeking a certified Water Operator to join our team based out of Weston, WV. This position reports to the Operations Supervisor and interfaces with company staff, clients, and vendors on a regular basis. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining water treatment facilities within West Virginia, and may also assist in mentoring new operators training to become certified in the industry. Position responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Job Responsibilities:
- Monitor, adjust, and record water plant operations on standard forms.
- Perform routine maintenance on equipment, facilities, and distribution systems.
- Add specified amounts of chemicals or adjust automatic devices that admit specified amounts of chemicals for treatment of potable water.
- Conduct bench lab testing in accordance with industry best practices .
- Collect routine drinking water samples to ensure compliance with regulatory permits.
- Maintain daily, weekly, and/or monthly logs of maintenance, sample results, chemicals used, and other pertinent facility information and provide to Compliance Department.
- General housekeeping of treatment facilities.
- Assist in the generation of Standard Operating Procedures as the facility expert.
- Mentorship of Operators in Training, as needed.
- Follow all established safety and PPE requirements.
- Maintain public health, employee safety, and client satisfaction through professional representation of Company.
- Strictly adhere to all applicable federal, state, local and public services commission statues, rules, or regulations.
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma, or equivalent GED Certificate
- Class II Water Operator Certification or Class I able to become certified to Class II within 3 months of employment
- Minimum 1-year experience working with public water systems
- Valid West Virginia Driver’s License
- Ability to respond to emergencies, as needed
- Willingness to travel to multiple locations in West Virginia
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening
- Ethical, dependable, high integrity
- Deductive reasoning (cause and effect)
- Analytical thinking
- Team player, able to coordinate and brainstorm with other operators for treatment or maintenance solutions
- Effective communication (verbal and written)
