Job Description
The Quality Assurance Manager is accountable for all quality related activities for the company. Acts as delegated Quality Manager and ensure compliance with AS9100/9001, drives continuous improvement initiatives, and foster a culture of Quality across all manufacturing processes. Ensures that products, materials, and services provided to customers meet Program and contractual requirements. This role requires a hands-on leader who can balance strategic quality initiatives with day-to-day operational support.
Responsibilities & Tasks
- Establish, implement, and maintain a Management System that meets the standards of ISO9001, AS9100.
- Maintain registration of ISO9001 and AS9100.
- Work with Vice President Operations & site leadership to establish and maintain the company’s Quality Policy and Objectives.
- Lead internal and external audits, including preparation, execution, and follow-up.
- Manage document control, ensuring all quality procedures, work instructions, fabrication procedures, and applicable records are
- Develop and monitor quality KPI’s and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate with Operations and Engineering to implement robust quality controls ensuring quality-free production.
- Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA) processes for nonconformances and customer
- Manage First Article Inspections (FAI), incoming inspections, and in-process inspections for product conformance.
- Champion Lean, Six Sigma, and Continuous Improvement initiatives to enhance quality performance.
- Establish and maintain supplier quality requirements, including audits, qualification, and performance monitoring.
- Drive supplier corrective actions to ensure quality standards are met.
- Acts as the primary quality liaison for customers, ensuring timely resolutions of complaints and compliance with contractual
- Coordinate 3rd party inspections (DCMA, GSI, CSI, etc.) in support of Operations delivery schedule.
- Lead and mentor the quality team, fostering professional growth and technical expertise.
- Train employees on quality policies AS9100 requirements, and best practices.
- Promote a culture of accountability and problem-solving throughout the organization.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline.
- 10 years of quality management experience in a manufacturing environment, preferable aerospace & defense.
- Strong knowledge of AS9100, ISO9001, and aerospace industry standards (Lead auditor preferred)
- Strong experience leading internal audits, CAPA, FAI, and supplier management.
- Proven track record of driving continuous improvement initiatives (Black Belt certification preferred)
- Excellent communication and leadership skills to collaborate cross-functionally.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications (GD&T knowledge is a plus).
- Experience with Supplier and Customer interaction.
- Experience with QC Tools and QM Tools.
