What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) position at Quantified Commerce?
We are building a brand-new pharmacy from the ground up, with plans to deliver prescription medications to patients in all 50 states. Our goal is to create a streamlined and compliant operation capable of serving a wide, diverse customer base nationwide.
We are looking for a Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) who will take the lead in establishing this pharmacy’s workflow, compliance framework, and delivery operations. This role is ideal for someone with a strong entrepreneurial drive, excellent leadership skills, and deep knowledge of multi-state pharmacy regulations.
Regulatory Compliance & Licensing
- Oversee all aspects of multi-state licensing, ensuring the pharmacy meets the requirements of relevant boards of pharmacy across all 50 states.
- Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) that satisfy all legal and regulatory requirements for interstate pharmacy services.
Pharmacy Setup & Operations
- Lead the end-to-end setup of the pharmacy, including facility design, technology selection (pharmacy management systems), and vendor/supplier relationships.
- Establish efficient workflows for prescription intake, verification, and dispensing, optimized for a high-volume, mail-order or courier-based model.
- Implement strategies for medication storage, shipping logistics.
Team Leadership & Development
- Recruit, train, and supervise pharmacy technicians, support staff, and potentially remote pharmacists or technicians as the operation grows.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and collaboration, ensuring all staff are trained on pharmacy policies and best practices.
Quality Assurance & Risk Management
- Conduct regular audits to uphold accuracy in dispensing, labeling, and shipping processes.
- Investigate and document medication errors, near-misses, and compliance gaps; develop corrective action plans.
- Stay updated on evolving federal and state regulations, ensuring timely implementation of changes in practice.
Patient Care & Customer Experience
- Ensure patient safety and satisfaction remain top priorities by providing accurate medication counseling and efficient resolution of inquiries.
- Oversee inbound and outbound communication channels, including phone, email, and web-based platforms, to maintain high CSAT (Customer Satisfaction) scores.
- Develop clinical services (e.g., medication therapy management) and health education materials tailored for a mail-order/virtual setting.
Financial Oversight & Strategic Growth
- Manage the pharmacy’s budget, including cost analysis for shipping, packaging, and inventory.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as turnaround time, shipping accuracy, and patient satisfaction, using data to refine operations.
- Drive strategic partnerships with healthcare providers, insurers, and telehealth platforms to expand the pharmacy’s reach.
Licensure & Education:
- PharmD or equivalent from an accredited institution.
- Active Florida pharmacist license (in good standing); multistate licensure experience (or willingness to obtain licenses in additional states) strongly preferred.
- Meets all Florida Board of Pharmacy requirements to serve as Pharmacist in Charge.
- Professional Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years in a supervisory or management role in a high-volume pharmacy (mail-order or retail).
- Demonstrated knowledge of federal and state regulations for pharmacy practice across multiple jurisdictions.
- A proven track record in establishing or scaling pharmacy operations is a plus.
