Job Summary
Self-motivated, positive and competitive Regional Environmental Health Safety and Security Manager to collaborate with operations personnel to integrate safety into all activities and decisions making processes at assigned locations. Partner with terminal management to improve driver performance and reduce at risk behaviors as well as distribution center management.
Responsibilities
- Conduct driver ride along and provide constructive coaching to improve driver performance.
- Partner with distribution and terminal leadership to create a Safety Culture of Excellence.
- Developing relationships with the distribution center employees as well as company drivers and Independent Contractor fleets to encourage safety first.
- Follow up on the safety training of the newly hired company employees and Independent Contractor regarding policies, procedures, and safety systems.
- Safety Supervision of a regional fleet of Company Drivers and Independent Contractors to ensure FMCSA compliance.
- Assist with overall CSA compliance improvement.
- Assist in the management of Hours-of-Service roadside inspections.
- Conducts investigations to determine root cause for all accidents and Injuries.
- Be the safety liaison for each location assigned.
- Supply management with safety reports etc.
- Immediate communication to Terminal Management for drivers not meeting company requirements.
- Promote safety meeting and safety events.
- Responsible for the ensuring performance for safety systems such Safety InSight, Lytx, GeoTab etc.
- Support the claims department as required.
- Support the training department as required.
Requirements
Summary of Essential Job Functions
This job includes the following duties and any other as assigned by current manager:
- Compile and manage driver logs when they are required to be used.
- Track and file required documentation in current DOT/DQ paper and electronic files.
- Track all self-certifications relative to DOT physicals.
- Track all unconfirmed electronic logbooks, working with terminal managers to ensure compliance.
- Daily logbook audits of Personal Conveyance.
- Help manage accident entries into Velocity.
- Scan and file department paperwork daily.
- Provide report of in-house HOS violations and communicate results to field. Assist with drug/alcohol program management.
- Assist with clearinghouse management.
- Perform auditing at distribution centers as well as terminals.
- Perform and assist in accident investigations.
Minimum Requirements
- At least a bachelor's degree and four (10) years of supervisory level experience in environmental and/or safety compliance
- In depth knowledge of federal, state, and local laws including regulations from OSHA, EPA, and NFPA
- Experience and/or expertise involving the Responsible Care Management System, ISO 14001, or RC 14001Additional professional certifications such as CSP, CHMM, CPEA, REM, CIH, PE preferred
- Experience in the transportation (preferably trucking) or chemical manufacturing industries
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Internet
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
- Self -motivated and able to work with little direction while under general supervision.

- Superior interpersonal skills, ability to get along with diverse personalities, interact tactfully and practice flexibility
- Excellent verbal communications skills, including the ability to communicate with all levels within an organization
- Exceptional writing skills and the ability to document processes and procedures

- Ability to travel to designated facilities as needed to perform job.
