RESPONSIBILITIES
I. JOB SUMMARY / RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Performs duties related to the safe and effective operation of the hyperbaric chambers and related support systems.
- Is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance on the hyperbaric chambers.
- Monitors and assesses patients in the chamber while undergoing hyperbaric oxygen therapy and assists in related patient care and functions as a chamber operator.
II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS :
Essential : Seeing, hearing, speaking, grasping, fingering, lifting up to ½ pound.Frequent : Sitting, standing, walking, bending / stooping below waist level, squatting, twisting, reaching above, at and below shoulders, repetitive arm / hand motion, lifting up to 10 pounds.Occasional : Kneeling, crouching, climbing, walking on uneven ground, horizontal lift / carry up to 75 pounds with assistance, floor to waist up to 35 pounds and pushing / pulling weight to 70 psi.Operates computer and various office and medical equipment.Operates hyperbaric oxygen chambers.III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS :
Exposed to chemicals, blood / body fluids and communicable diseases.Work environment can be fast-paced and hectic.IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
A. EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE :
Associate’s degree in science or related field; or two (2) years experience in hyperbaric chamber operations may be substituted for the educational experience.Current Hyperbaric Technologist (CHT) certification by the National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric Medical Technology. If not certified upon hire, certification must be obtained within nine (9) months of entrance into the position.Current BLS certification.B. EXPERIENCE :
In addition to the educational requirement, minimum two (2) years of current experience performing maintenance and safety aspects of chamber operations.Experience to demonstrate :o Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
o Strong working knowledge of NFPA – 99, NFPA – 55, PVHO, CGA, US Navy Dive Tables, NBDHMT, UHMS, and other related hyperbaric codes, standards, & and organizations.
o Knowledge of ICD-10 & CPT coding and medical terminology.
