Queens Centers for Progress, an Agency in Jamaica, Queens providing person centered services for adults and children with developmental and intellectual disabilities, is seeking a Job Developer to support our Employment Program.
SUMMARY:
The Job Developer will provide job development, placement, ongoing retention, and coaching to ACCES-VR and OPWDD participants. The Job developer will assist individuals with developmental disabilities. in job searching and placement. Establishes and maintain working relationships with employers, industry organizations, to source job openings and secure employment and vocational training opportunities for individuals. The Job Developer will be working closely with the Supported Employment team to coordinate support for ongoing job coaching.
DUTIES:
- Responsible for Direct Placement referrals via ACCES-VR and OPWDD. Place one 1 individual per month; research and develop new sites, accrue 35 billable hours per week (OPWDD SEMP).
- Maintain relationships with existing employers and develop new accounts.
- Provide participants with job search services, including resume writing and interview preparation.
- Responsible for following up with employers, Funding sources, parents and others during the process.
- Manage appropriate paperwork as required by funding source, to include; case notes, billing documentation, etc.
- Complete paper and/or online applications with the individual or on their behalf, as needed.
- Must be willing to be fully trained as a Job Coach and carry a caseload as needed.
- Responsible for complete, accurate and timely submission of all documentation, referrals, follow ups and verifications required for the department.
- Perform other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma/GED ; Associates or Bachelor's degree preferred. Two(2) years experience working with persons with developmental disabilities. A NYS Driver's license for three (3) years is required and a reliable car. Must possess excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Must able to manage tasks and prioritize competing demands. Must be a team player and have a strong work ethic. This is a field based position and incumbent must be able to travel to multiple work sites daily.
