What are the responsibilities and job description for the Community Associate, Civic Awareness Unit position at Queens District Attorney's Office?
The Office of the Queens County District Attorney (QDA) is currently seeking a Community Associate for our Civic Awareness Unit within our Community Partnerships Division (CPD). The CPD staff focuses on building strong community partnerships, addresses quality of life concerns, and oversees crime prevention and mentoring programs. The Community Associate will be responsible for a variety of duties including, but not limited to:
A Bachelor's degree is preferred. All candidates must have a high school diploma or its educational equivalent.
Preference will be given to candidates with at least one year of experience working in a professional office setting and/or working with the community and/or in the criminal justice field. Preference will also be given to candidates that have the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences, as well as those that possess strong collaborative, problem-solving, time management, and organizational skills.
Must have a working knowledge of computers; Microsoft Office software; and excellent oral and written communication skills (verbal, nonverbal, written). Bilingual a plus.

- Creating, coordinating, and staffing events across the borough (Including but not limited to: office-wide events, informative workshops, etc.).
- Coordinating transportation to locations to assist with site visits, event production and stakeholder meetings.
- Receiving community complaints and referring information to the Division.
- Providing logistical support to prepare for events in which QDA participates and/or sponsors including setting up materials in advance.
- Coordinating event technology needs with IT and Communication departments.
- Assisting with other CPD functions, such as providing community outreach, participating in community events, and expanding partnerships with community organizations.
- Scheduling Advisory Council meetings and maintaining contact with Council members.
- Attending daytime and evening Advisory Council meetings.
- Spearheading the internal coordination and communication of community service event opportunities.
- Tracking and reporting all data related to programs, events, and Assistant District Attorney community service event requirements.
- Submitting weekly work progress reports to the Director.
- Assisting with the drafting of event briefings for the District Attorney.
- Attending Unit and Division Meetings.
- Assisting the Director and Division as needed.
- Assisting with other related duties at the request of the Executive Assistant District Attorney or the District Attorney.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends, as required.
