Set up and operate all machinery to perform a variety of machining, grinding, heat treating, brazing, soldering, and welding on a variety of materials. Fabricates replacement parts for production and non-production equipment.
- Plans layouts, procedures, machines, equipment, parts programs, and setups to be used.
- Uses all types of shop mathematics, principles of mechanics, and trigonometry.
- Selects tooling and fixturing methods to accommodate the fabrication process.
- Calculates and sets machine feeds and speeds.
- Edits programs as necessary.
- Reviews new designs for producibility.
- Create tool and fixture drawings and modifications
- Performs heat treatment process.
- When practical, assist operators to set up multiple machines.
- Maintains records, moves materials, and follows safety rules in the performance of duties.
- Performs other similar duties as required or directed by the customer.
- Machines, Tools, and Equipment used, include but are not limited to: All computer numerically controlled (CNC), direct numerical controlled (DNC), and manually controlled machine tools required to perform any fabrication of fixtures, tooling, dies, and experimental and developmental sheet metal parts. CNC program equipment, computer aid design (CAD) stations, heat treat ovens, brazing, soldering and welding equipment, grinders, and hardware installation equipment.
Work Experience
Basic Qualifications:
- Graduated from a technical school or apprenticeship (preferably Tool & Die)
- Minimum of 5 years experience in fixturing and/or tool & die fabrication
- The position requires the candidate to be on-site 100%
- Due to the nature of the work must be a US Citizen
Preferred Qualification:
- 2-year certificate program at community college or technical school
Must be able to work in a shop floor environment
Must be able to lift 25 lbs
