Full Time Medical Assistant for Urgent Care

Overview

QUICKmed’s Medical Assistant is responsible for competing administrative and clinical tasks, such as scheduling appointments, collecting billing information and taking patients’ vital signs.

Essential Functions:

• Assists provider in examinations.

• Gives instructions to patients as instructed by doctor.

• Takes blood pressure, pulse, temperature, respiration and other vital signs.

• Assists with any procedures that have been taught through formal training or by licensed nurse or provider.

• Assists in lab or x-ray procedure under the supervision of provider and for which training has been given.

• Telephoning prescriptions to pharmacies.

• Drawing blood

• Taking electrocardiograms

• Answering patient questions.

• Completes records by recording patient examination, treatment, and test results.

• Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt.

• Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.

• Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following, and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.

• Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping patient care information confidential.

• Serves and protects the physician or health care provider practice by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements. * Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

• Enhances health care practice reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests.

• Exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

• Interview patients and record their medical history.

• Give patients injections or medications as directed by physicians and as permitted by state law.

• Performing basic laboratory tests on the premises.

• Disposing of contaminated supplies.

• Sterilizing medical instruments.

• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

• Frequent standing, walking, grasping.

• Occasional sitting, reaching, bending and stooping.

• Lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling up to 50 pounds with assistance if needed.

• Frequent use of computer, keyboard, copier, fax machine and phone.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 38 per week
