What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Guidance Counselor position at Quincy Catholic Academy?
Quincy Catholic Academy, a vibrant Catholic School (PreK through grade 8), seeks a dedicated and versatile school counselor to serve the school community. Qualifies candidates must have a desire to work with students between the ages of 5 to 13 with diverse backgrounds and levels of ability, toward accomplishing their educational and social-emotional goals.
In addition, the counselor must have the ability to organize tasks and manage time to meet many and varied responsibilities and communicate effectively with students, parents, administrators and teachers, including the ability to discuss sensitive topics. The counselor will be responsible for implementing social-emotional lessons for grades 1-8, through planned activities in the classroom and working one-on-one or in small groups to support students as needed.
The counselor should have a working familiarity with student assessment tools, especially evaluating and interpreting test results.
Ideally, the counselor will have a heart for service and a desire to be part of a school culture which teaches to the whole person – mind, body and spirit.
Qualified candidates should have a master’s degree (or willing to pursue) in Social work or related field. Experience working in a school setting is a plus.
