JOB OVERVIEW:
· We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated NGS Scientist to lead assay development. In this role, you will focus on designing, optimizing, and implementing innovative NGS pipelines, troubleshooting technical challenges, and documenting workflows through comprehensive SOPs.
· This position involves both hands-on experimental work and collaboration with cross-functional teams, ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the lab while advancing our NGS capabilities to meet organizational and project goals.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Lead the design, development, and optimization of novel NGS assays for diverse applications.
· Enhance and refine existing NGS pipelines to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
· Troubleshoot and resolve issues in NGS workflows, including sample preparation, library preparation, and sequencing.
· Collaborate with the NGS data science team, automation team, and other cross-functional teams to integrate new technologies and methodologies.
· Draft and maintain SOPs to document best practices, workflows, and experimental procedures for NGS assays and lab operations.
· Accurately record experimental data in lab notebooks or digital systems, ensuring compliance with lab protocols.
· Perform hands-on experiments to support NGS projects, including library preparation, sequencing, and QC processes.
· Ensure adherence to safety protocols and SOPs within the lab.
· Other tasks assigned by the manager
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
· PhD or Master’s degree in Molecular Biology, Genetics, or a related field, with a deep understanding of NGS technologies and workflows.
· Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in NGS assay development, troubleshooting, and laboratory management within an industry setting.
TECHNICAL EXPERTISE:
· Proficiency in NGS techniques with expertise in a wide range of library preparation methods.
· Proven experience in optimizing NGS pipelines and assays.
· Familiarity with sequencing platforms such as Illumina and Element Biosciences.
· Ability to optimize library loading concentrations for high-quality sequencing results.
· Demonstrated ability to manage laboratory records, ensure accurate documentation, and maintain seamless daily lab operations.
· Strong capability to troubleshoot technical challenges and implement effective solutions to optimize workflows.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Experience in a high-throughput NGS laboratory environment.
· Hands-on experience with lab automation instruments.
· Proficiency in NGS data analysis and interpretation.
