Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Data Architect to join our team and lead the development of a comprehensive data strategy for our diverse range of software products in the oil and gas industry for an industry-leading SaaS provider. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data architecture, data management, and oil and gas-specific knowledge.
Responsibilities
- Develop and Implement Data Strategy: Design and implement a robust data strategy that aligns with the company's business goals and supports the diverse needs of our software products.
- Data Governance: Establish and enforce data governance policies and procedures to ensure data quality, security, and compliance with industry regulations.
- Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, software engineers, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and provide data solutions that enhance product functionality.
- Technology Evaluation: Evaluate and recommend data management tools, technologies, and platforms that best meet the company's needs.
- Performance Optimization: Monitor and optimize database performance, ensuring high availability and scalability of data solutions.
- Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of data architecture, processes, and standards.

Required Skillsets:
Data Modeling: Expertise in creating conceptual, logical, and physical data models. Proficiency with data modeling tools such as ER/Studio, ERwin, or similar.- Database Design: Strong experience in designing relational and non-relational databases. Proficiency in SQL and experience with databases like Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and NoSQL databases like MongoDB or Cassandra.
- Data Integration: Experience with ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes and tools such as Informatica, Talend, or Apache Nifi. Knowledge of data integration patterns and best practices.
- Cloud Platforms: Proficiency in cloud data services and platforms such as AWS (e.g., Redshift, RDS), Azure (e.g., SQL Database, Cosmos DB), or Google Cloud (e.g., BigQuery).
- Big Data Technologies: Familiarity with big data technologies and frameworks such as Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, and related ecosystems.
Data Governance: Knowledge of data governance frameworks and tools. Experience in implementing data quality, data lineage, and metadata management solutions.- Security and Compliance: Understanding of data security best practices and compliance requirements (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) relevant to the oil and gas industry.
- Programming Languages: Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala for data processing and analysis.
- OSDU Knowledge: Experience with the Open Subsurface Data Universe (OSDU) Data Platform, including its architecture, data standards, and implementation
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in data architecture, data management, or a related role, preferably within the oil and gas industry.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in data modeling, database design, SQL, and data integration tools. Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) is a plus.
- Industry Knowledge: Understanding of the oil and gas industry, including common data types, regulatory requirements, and industry-specific challenges.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Skills
- Certifications: Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Data Management Professional, AWS Certified Solutions Architect) are a plus.
Additional Details
- Salary commensurate with experience ($155,000 - $205,000 US Dollars) with bi-weekly pay via direct deposit. Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. Quorum Software reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the qualifications, experience, training, work history, and geographic location of the selected candidate.
- Background Check: The successful candidate will need to successfully complete the following clearances: Criminal History Check, Education Verification, Employment Verification, Driver’s License Verification and passport/ID validation.
- Visa Sponsorship: Employment eligibility to work with Quorum Software in the United States is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for this position. The successful candidate will be required to ensure they maintain and renew any visas or permits that grant employment eligibility where applicable.
