Overview:
Join the R.A.D. Sprouts team for an exciting and rewarding summer! As a Sprouts Guide or Teacher, you will play a vital role in our program for children aged 4-6, fostering curiosity and creativity in indoor or outdoor settings. Sprouts Guides lead outdoor explorations, including nature walks and environmental education, while Sprouts Teachers inspire young minds through engaging indoor activities, such as creative arts and foundational lessons. Both roles contribute to creating memorable experiences for campers, collaborating with the Sprouts Program Director, and supporting the mission of R.A.D. Camps.
Responsibilities include:
- Supervise groups of up to 12 campers (ages 4-6) alongside another guide, ensuring their safety at all times.
- Collaborate with the team to create a magical camp experience for children through implementing plans for art activities, games, and outdoor adventures.
- Guide children through the creative process by asking process-focused questions, inspiring their imaginations, and empowering them with instruction to develop new skills.
- Lead outdoor exploration activities at local state parks, encouraging children to engage with nature and learn about their environment.
- Safely transport campers in our RAD Vans, adhering to all traffic laws.
- Execute emergency protocols efficiently and safely.
- Foster a positive and inclusive environment, encouraging campers to explore while adhering to Leave No Trace principles.
- Communicate professionally with parents, campers, and staff on a daily basis.
- Maintain accurate attendance records for campers.
- Manage camper behavior sensitively and report any issues to management.
- Attend all required meetings and training sessions.
- Maintain a program culture of joy, willingness to take creative risks, and celebration of each artist’s creative process.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with children ages 4-6.
- Comfort and experience in both outdoor and indoor settings.
- Passion for the creative arts and supporting children's development.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Must be a resident of Central Oregon.
- Minimum age requirement: 21 years old.
- Completion of mandatory child abuse training (provided upon hiring).
- Must pass a background check.
- Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record are required.
- Ability to safely operate a 15-passenger van.
