The R.A.D. Sprouts Program Director is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring the seamless operation of the R.A.D. Sprouts program. This position oversees all aspects of the program, including curriculum development, staff mentoring, and ensuring program materials and resources meet the needs of daily operations. The role involves direct teaching, leadership, and daily decision-making to maintain a high standard of educational excellence.
Working closely with the Camp Director, the Program Director makes informed day-to-day decisions and ensures strong communication with clients to create a welcoming and engaging environment. This is a full-time, seasonal leadership position based out of Seven Peaks School in Bend, Oregon.
Core Responsibilities
- Program Oversight:
- Ensure smooth daily operations of the R.A.D. Sprouts program.
- Develop, implement, and refine indoor and outdoor curriculum to align with program goals and age-appropriate standards.
- Maintain and manage classroom and outdoor materials, ensuring supplies are organized and adequate for curriculum needs.
- Leadership and Staff Management:
- Train, mentor, and oversee Sprouts staff and guides, ensuring adherence to program protocols and outlines.
- Provide direct supervision and constructive feedback to staff, fostering professional growth and ensuring high-quality programming.
- Communication and Coordination:
- Act as the primary liaison between Sprouts program staff and the Camp Director, relaying updates, challenges, and successes.
- Greet clients daily during check-in and check-out, building strong relationships and ensuring client satisfaction.
- Address and resolve operational challenges to maintain program quality.
- Classroom and Outdoor Leadership:
- Lead indoor classroom sessions and outdoor activities, fostering engagement and alignment with program objectives.
- Model best practices in teaching, classroom management, and outdoor education for guides and staff.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Enforce safety protocols and manage risks to ensure a safe environment for campers and staff.
- Ensure all program activities comply with R.A.D. Camps policies and guidelines.
- Administrative Tasks:
- Track attendance, incidents, and other key metrics.
- Support hiring processes and onboarding of new staff specific to the Sprouts program.
Qualifications
- Experience:
- Extensive experience working with young children (ages 4-6) in an educational or camp setting.
- Proven track record in program management or leadership roles within education or recreation.
- Experience in client-facing roles, with an emphasis on building strong relationships and fostering positive experiences.
- Education and Certifications:
- Degree in early childhood education, teaching, outdoor leadership, or a related field (preferred).
- CPR/First Aid certification (required but can be obtained during R.A.D. Camps onboarding process).
- Skills:
- Strong leadership and organizational abilities.
- Proficiency in creating and implementing structured curriculums.
- Exceptional communication skills for engaging with clients, staff, and campers.
- Ability to work collaboratively while also making independent, informed decisions under pressure.
- Residency and Availability:
- Must be a resident of Central Oregon or willing to relocate before the start of the program.
- Must be present and active during program hours, including greeting and interacting with clients during check-in and check-out.
- Other Requirements:
- A passion for working with young children in both indoor and outdoor settings.
- Familiarity with R.A.D. Camps' mission, values, and operational protocols (preferred).
- Must be at least 21 years old.
Working Conditions
- Schedule: This is a full-time, seasonal position, with weekdays dedicated to program operations from mid-June to the end of August.
- Training Days: Attendance is required for the mandatory Guide Training Weekend on Saturday, June 14, and Sunday, June 15, 2025.
- Program Operations: Monday through Friday, June 16 to August 29, 2025, from 7:45 AM to 4:15 PM daily. Additional preparation time may be required outside these hours.
- Environment:
- This position requires working both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Physical activities, including hiking, lifting, and setting up for activities, will be part of the job.
- Interaction:
- The Program Director will greet and interact with clients daily during check-in and check-out alongside the Camp Director.
- The role involves hands-on leadership, both in the classroom and during outdoor activities, fostering a fun and engaging atmosphere.
Compensation
- Base Pay: $24–$28/hour, depending on experience and certifications.
- Overtime: Time and a half will be paid for any hours worked beyond 40 hours per week.
- Training Pay: Attendance at the mandatory Guide Training Weekend is compensated.
