Senior Application Engineer

General Purpose:

Applies knowledge to prepare packaging solutions utilizing R.A Jones/COESIA Equipment and 3^rd party equipment. Provide concept, cost, and technical description used to create the proposals to our customers.

General Characteristics:

Has full technical responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing and coordinating assignments; plans and develops project solutions; requires extensive integration experience; makes decisions and recommendations on engineering activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

·        Applies experience and industry knowledge in formulating solutions to customer requirements for systems integration. 

·        Demonstrates solid engineering principles and practices while formulating technical solutions of varying difficulties. Solutions range from repeat applications to new and unproven applications. Articulates the solution by coordinating internal solutions effort.

·        Responsible for ensuring the concept and content of solution is documented such that complete order definition is available for Sales Order Engineering.

·        When appropriate, uses Early Learning testing to verify feasibility and minimize the risk of applications. Responsible for documentation and interpretation of testing results.

·        Uses SolidWorks motion simulation package to complement Early Learning testing and to communicate complex solutions and timings to customers.

·        Prepares, in collaboration with other operational groups, engineering and assembly hour estimates and manufacturing material estimates of product line modification/reconfiguration costs to support the accurate buildup of cost estimates.

·        Responsible for product specifications and overall technical integrity of proposal content. Acts as the technical expert for the SOE (Sales Operations Engineer) and ASAM (Area Sales Account Manager) in products and alternative approaches. Outlines the solution concept and content including the sequence of operation, performance parameters and efficiency guarantees.

·        May support the field sales effort through presentations during the selling/closing process with the customer, SOE, and ASAM. Ensures that customer needs are clearly understood and addressed in the proposed solution.

·        Requires little to no supervision reporting to manager.

Position Specifications/Requirements:

·        5 yrs. Experience in same or similar role

·        Requires a B. S. in related engineering discipline or experience equivalent required.

·        Must demonstrate a solid background in packaging machine design practices. 

·        Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, with Solid Edge and or Pro-E as an alternate skill set.

·        Must possess exceptional oral and written communication skills. 

·        Must possess good interpersonal skills to promote the team concept required for quality order execution.

·        Maintains an awareness of new technology developments and practices. 

Working Conditions:

·        Safety glasses with side shields and steel toe safety shoes are required while in manufacturing.

·        Some exposure to dust, dirt, and noise.

Physical Requirements:

·        Must be willing to travel to customer and vendor sites on an occasional basis. Approximately 10%
