Job Summary
The Lab Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring that products meet the established quality standards and specifications. You will work in full-service surfacing and finishing laboratories, using different optical instruments and machinery to complete orders to exact specifications. Duties include grinding, fine and polishing lenses for prescription glasses, and relying on computer equipment, generators, and automated tools. You must have a good eye for detail and manual dexterity.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of opthalmic prescription lenses is preferred but we are willing to train motivated individuals.
  • Knowledge of ANSI standards and their application in an optical laboratory setting is a plus
  • Familiarity with optical principles and practices related to eyewear and lens specifications.
  • Strong understanding of quality management concepts and methodologies.
  • Ability to perform thorough quality inspections with attention to detail.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Extreme accuracy for ensuring every job is as ordered.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment to manufacture optical lenses according to specifications.
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards and laboratory procedures.
  • Conduct quality assurance checks to maintain product standards.
  • Collaborate with team members to optimize manufacturing processes.
  • Utilize CNC lathe and other machinery for precision lens crafting.
  • Stay updated on ophthalmology and anatomy knowledge to enhance production techniques.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
