Job Description:
We are seeking a dependable Shop Attendant to oversee fleet and heavy equipment dispatch, cleaning, and warehouse support operations. This role is vital to ensuring company vehicles, heavy machinery, and tools are maintained, cleaned, and organized for smooth daily operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Fleet & Heavy Equipment Dispatch:
- Coordinate and schedule the dispatch of fleet vehicles and heavy equipment to meet operational needs.
- Maintain records of vehicle and equipment usage, mileage, fuel levels, and operator assignments.
- Communicate with drivers and equipment operators regarding schedules, job site locations, and operational updates.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and safety regulations regarding vehicle and equipment movement.
- Monitor availability and readiness of fleet vehicles and heavy equipment, reporting any issues to management.
Fleet & Heavy Equipment Cleaning & Maintenance Support:
- Clean and maintain fleet vehicles and heavy equipment, both interior and exterior, before dispatch.
- Conduct routine inspections to check for cleanliness, damages, and maintenance needs.
- Maintain cleaning supplies and ensure efficient cleaning operations.
- Assist with minor upkeep, such as checking tire pressure, fluid levels, and fuel refills.
- Report maintenance or repair needs to the appropriate department.
Warehouse & Tool Management Support:
- Assist in organizing and maintaining warehouse inventory, including tools, spare parts, and equipment.
- Track and issue tools and miscellaneous shop items to mechanics, drivers, and operators.
- Conduct routine inventory checks and report low stock levels to management.
- Ensure tools and equipment are stored properly and in good working condition.
- Assist in loading/unloading shipments and properly stocking supplies.
General Shop & Yard Duties:
- Keep the shop, yard, and vehicle/equipment storage areas clean and organized.
- Dispose of waste materials properly, ensuring compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
- Support mechanics, drivers, and equipment operators with operational needs.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in fleet operations, vehicle/equipment dispatch, warehouse support, or shop maintenance is a plus.
- Basic knowledge of vehicle and heavy equipment upkeep, including cleaning and minor maintenance.
- Familiarity with warehouse inventory management and tool handling.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
- Physically capable of lifting, cleaning, and performing minor maintenance tasks.
- Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred but not mandatory).
Work Environment:
- Indoor and outdoor work with exposure to vehicle cleaning chemicals, dust, and heavy machinery.
- Requires standing, bending, lifting moderate weights, and working in varying weather conditions.
- Work schedule may include weekends, early mornings, or late shifts based on operational demands.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35 – 45 per week
