What are the responsibilities and job description for the Network Engineer position at R+L Carriers?
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain a high level of proficiency in network, wireless, and network security technologies to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Design, build, deploy, and administer complex network, wireless, and network security environments to support organizational needs.
- Evaluate and recommend improvements to network performance, capacity, and scalability, optimizing for future growth and technological advancements.
- Identify and implement network automation opportunities to streamline operations and increase efficiency.
- Coordinate and execute network changes in compliance with established change management procedures to minimize disruptions.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive as-built documentation and network operations reports, ensuring accuracy and accessibility.
- Collaborate effectively with partners and vendors to deploy new infrastructure and provide operational support.
- Troubleshoot network issues and resolve support tickets promptly, coordinating with maintenance personnel as needed.
- Provide on-call support during off-hours, holidays, and weekends on a rotational basis to maintain continuous network availability.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Network Manager.
Qualifications:
Must Have:
- Minimum of 7 years of experience installing and supporting data network solutions.
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience supporting enterprise network routing, switching, wireless, security, and data center architectures.
- Proven experience working with Cisco network routers and switches.
- Demonstrated ability to lead critical network, wireless, and network security projects.
- Proven experience mentoring and guiding junior network technicians.
Preferred (A Plus to Have):
- Experience working with advanced networking technologies such as Cisco Wireless, Palo Alto Next-Gen Firewalls, F5 Load Balancers, Aruba SD-WAN, and Cradlepoint network solutions.
Education and Certifications:
- Active CCNA certification or equivalent experience is required.
- Associate degree or higher in a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Active CCNP or higher certification is highly desirable.
- Information security certifications or equivalent training are considered a plus.
