Our client, a downtown real estate development and investment firm is seeking a smart, hands-on Director of Accounting to handle a variety of accounting and financial activities. This position represents a challenging opportunity for a highly motivated and self-directed financial professional to have an immediate impact and to design and implement various financial and operational controls and procedures. Reporting to the firm’s Owners, the selected individual will provide financial leadership and coordination of the firm’s cash management, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting and other management and operational functions.

- Oversee and manage all general accounting functions, including, but not limited to accounts payable, disbursements, general ledger, payroll, invoicing/billing and collections
- Manage all financial reporting, including sales and revenue reporting.
- Monitor and analyze monthly operating results against budget.
- Assess current practices and procedures, and make recommendations for improvements
- Direct and coordinate company forecasting and budget management functions.
- Perform ad hoc analysis and projects as requested
- Assist owners in planning and policy development
- Work with external tax team to ensure correct and timely closing and reporting at year-end
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting; CPA preferred
- At least 8 years of progressive accounting experience; real estate industry experience is required
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities across all levels of an organization
- Strong leadership skills with a dedication to driving and achieving results
- Knowledge of employee relationship building and performance management techniques
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Experience with computerized financial systems, preferably Yardi
