R/S Electric Utility is an Electrical Contractor whose installation and design-build expertise is exceeded only by our commitment to serve and deliver for our clients, including investor own utilities, municipalities , engineering firms and alternative energy such as solar and wind projects.

R/S Electric is looking for a entry level project manager/estimator based out of its Kansas City, Missouri office. This is a great opportunity if you graduated within the last 1-2 years with limited experience or a college senior and will be graduating within the next year.

This candidate will support our lead estimators and project management team with projects that include design-build of electrical systems, utility work, traffic signal, street lighting and any associated general trade work associated with the above.

Essential Functions

  • Manage tasks including quantity take offs of electrical projects, change orders, subcontractor and supplier quotations, review of bills of materials, specification reviews, document control, and process flow.
  • Communicate and collaborate with the executive team, project managers and field personnel, and perform other duties as assigned or requested for the support of the organization.
  • Help manage efforts for submittals, proposals, presentations, contract negotiation, and related activities.
  • Manage multiple projects
  • Manage each phase of the project including design, permitting, bidding, contracting (administration and change order review), construction and project close out.
  • Plan, organize and direct electrical construction including, electrical deliverables, overall safety, cost, scheduling and quality of assigned projects.
  • Develop project execution plans for project staffing, budgeting, scheduling and establishing critical project objectives.
  • Ensure that the project review process and other quality control guidelines are followed.
  • Demonstrate creativity, foresight and mature judgment in anticipating and solving problems.
  • Deliver outstanding customer service through timely response and proactive solutions to clients needs.
  • Protect operations by keeping company information confidential.

Skills, Attributes and Education

  • Prefer Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Science and Management, Architecture, Electrical Engineering or degree in similar engineering or architecture or construction field.
  • Excellent organizational skills, interpersonal communication skills, and written, verbal and presentation competence.
  • Proficient use of all Microsoft Office applications. Preference to those also proficient in BlueBeam
  • Familiar knowledge of construction components, processes and methodologies. Electrical experience is preferred, but not required.
  • Completion of, or ability to obtain, OSHA -10 Hour Construction Safety Training.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to construction sites, , as needed.
  • Ability to deal effectively with clients on project-related matters.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Flexibility to work, and ability to adapt, to the rapid changes of a market-driven environment.
  • Excellent time management skills including ability to perform multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and ability to work independently.
