What are the responsibilities and job description for the Junior Project Manager/Project Estimator position at R/S Industrial Services?
R/S Industrial is a mechanical contractor whose installation and design-build expertise is exceeded only by our commitment to serve and deliver for our clients, including industrial facilities and processes, manufacturing, healthcare, pharmaceutical, grain elevators, water and waste water treatment, power generation, colleges/universities, and other industries.
R/S Industrial is looking for a junior project manager/estimator based out of its St Joseph, Missouri office. This is a great opportunity if you are a college senior or a recent graduate with limited experience.
The junior project manager/estimator will support our lead estimator and eventually our project management team with projects that include design-build of HVAC and plumbing/piping systems, industrial plant work, process and instrumentation, and any associated general trade work associated with the above.
The ideal person will live in, or plan to live in, the St Joseph area.
Essential Functions
As a junior estimator you will support the lead estimator with the following:
- Manage tasks including quantity take offs of mechanical and plumbing / pipefitting projects, change orders, subcontractor and supplier quotations, review of bills of materials, specification reviews, document control, and process flow.
- Communicate and collaborate with the executive team, project managers and field personnel, and perform other duties as assigned or requested for the support of the organization.
As a junior project manager, you will support the relevant project lead with the following:
- Support the identification of opportunities and help manage efforts for submittals, proposals, presentations, contract negotiation, and related activities.
- Manage multiple projects and the development of each from beginning to end.
- Manage each phase of the project including design, permitting, bidding, contracting (administration and change order review), construction and project close out.
- Plan, organize and direct electrical construction including, electrical deliverables, overall safety, cost, scheduling and quality of assigned projects.
- Develop project execution plans for project staffing, budgeting, scheduling and establishing critical project objectives.
- Ensure that the project review process and other quality control guidelines are followed.
- Consult and assist the team lead and clients, as applicable, with project delivery plans.
- Demonstrate creativity, foresight and mature judgment in anticipating and solving problems.
- Deliver outstanding customer service through timely response and proactive solutions to clients needs.
- Protect operations by keeping company information confidential.
Skills, Attributes and Education
- Prefer Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Science and Management, Architecture, Mechanical Engineering or degree in similar engineering or architecture or construction field.
- Excellent organizational skills, interpersonal communication skills, and written, verbal and presentation competence.
- Proficient use of all Microsoft Office applications. Preference to those also proficient in BlueBeam and BHS estimating software.
- CAD/BIM is preferred, but not required.
- Familiar knowledge of construction components, processes and methodologies. Electrical experience is preferred, but not required.
- Completion of, or ability to obtain, OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Training.
- Ability and willingness to travel to construction sites, and to and from St Joseph, as needed.
- Ability to deal effectively with clients on project-related matters.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Flexibility to work, and ability to adapt, to the rapid changes of a market-driven environment.
- Excellent time management skills including ability to perform multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and ability to work independently.
