- Leads by example, providing mentorship, performance reviews and design feedback for direct reports.
- Experienced with Salesforce or similar tool for running data analysis and reporting department performance.
- Capable of assessing risk and advising on design decisions to keep department on track while limiting liability.
- A sound understanding of the architectural design process.
- Expert with AGi32 photometric software, 2D AutoCAD, proficient knowledge of 3D AutoCAD.
- Expert in meeting lighting design practices and IESNA guidelines, energy codes and municipal ordinances.
- Knowledge of lighting controls and system design and documentation.
- Review department metrics with Director and employ tactics to improve the performance of the team.
- Assist Director with department processes including budget, team training, goals and performance assessments.
- Supervise and develop direct reports with one-on-one meetings, performance reviews and design assessments.
- Conduct monthly studio huddles to build team spirit and improve the knowledge and abilities of the group.
- Guide junior staff through design process and review designs to ensure quality.
- Lead by example, create lighting designs from the department queue of cases to meet client requirements and cover for absent design staff to meet dept. targets.
- Determine which RAB products to specify for each case.
- Design lighting controls with RAB Lightcloud for cases.
- Create bill of materials for the design to facilitate Sales.
- Communicate the design to client and rep via email, including scope, design approach, requirements and any recommended changes to improve the design.
- Revise designs based on client feedback, budget, scope increases and other factors.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Architectural Lighting Design, Interior Design, Architecture, Theater Production, or related field (preferred).
- Proven experience in lighting design and studio management, with a minimum of three years in a similar role.
- Proficiency in lighting software and design tools, such as AGI32
- Hold an Lighting Certified (LC) credential from NCQLP.
- Strong technical knowledge of architectural lighting techniques and standards.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively manage a team and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
