What are the responsibilities and job description for the Y&F Services Supervisor-Ongoing position at Racine, County of (WI)?
- Train staff initially and on an ongoing basis with regard to rules, regulations, statutes and standards which govern child welfare services.
- Review all referrals for appropriateness and assign to a Case Manager.
- Review, correct and approve new and ongoing treatment plans, permanency plans, risk and needs assessments, safety assessments and court reports.
- Monitor utilization of resources and service authorization process.
- Maintain active communication with members of the District Attorney's Office concerning current case status and practice changes.
- Interpret new state programs and initiatives to staff as to how they will affect their practice.
- Participate in the establishment of policies regarding Juvenile Court populations, i.e., child protective services, juvenile justice.
- Interpret matters from Chapter 938 or 48 and instruct workers on necessary follow-through.
- Coordinate the work schedule of unit to insure coverage during the Department's hours of operation.
- Provide consultation to other HSD staff on child protective services, child welfare and/or termination of parent rights procedures.
- Participate in ongoing development and implementation of new initiatives and programs within the department.
- Represent the agency on panels, advisory boards, task forces, etc.
- Participate in the employee interviewing/hiring process and recommend candidates for selection to the Division Manager.
Supervision Exercised
Has supervisory responsibility for the Case Managers and paraprofessionals within the CPS On-going Unit.
Supervision Received
Receives supervision from the Manager, Youth & Family Division.
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Criminal Justice, Psychology, or a related Human Services field.
- Three (3) years of case management experience.
- Supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
- Experience with e-WISACWIS preferred.
- Prompt and regular attendance.
- *Or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience, which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities.
- Knowledge of community resources.
- Knowledge of State Statutes 938 and 48.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing to interact with families, courts, law enforcement and community partners.
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse client population.
- Skilled in de-escalation and decision-making under pressure.
- Strong understanding safety assessments, case planning and permanency goals.
- Knowledge of trauma informed care.
