QC Technician Job Description
Rack and Riddle Custom Wine Services, the top custom sparkling wine producer in the United States, is seeking a Quality Control (QC) Technician to join our QC Team.
Position Overview:
The QC Technician plays a vital role in ensuring the quality of our products by performing quality control checks at various stages of production and identifying root causes of issues. This position requires collaboration with the Production, Winemaking, Maintenance, and Lab teams to ensure quality standards are met across all production-related activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform QC checks during production to ensure wine and final products meet client specifications.
- Conduct testing for Free/Total SO2, Alcohol, Density, and other parameters to verify compliance with client and work order specifications.
- Test and analyze pre-bottling tanks, packaging materials, and final products for quality adherence.
- Perform physical quality tests, including vacuum, torque, volume, oxygen, and CO2 measurements.
- Conduct case checks at the end of production to ensure packaging compliance.
- Document QC hold procedures for products outside specifications and notify the QC Supervisor of deviations.
- Collect and track data for sample holdbacks and Micro Plating sample collections.
- Review QC and bottling specifications and maintain accurate quality control documentation.
- Manage client approvals and ensure materials meet client specifications before production.
- Assist with Brix and temperature measurements of fermenting wine during harvest as needed.
- Clean and maintain QC laboratory instruments to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Participate in special projects as assigned.
- Work collaboratively with the QC Supervisor, Production, and Winemaking teams to address quality issues.
Requirements:
- 1-3 years of experience as a Quality Control Technician and/or Wine Lab Technician.
- Experience with bottling still wine, sparkling wine, and wine canning lines is a strong plus.
- Familiarity with FT vision systems is a plus.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills, both analytical and line specific.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and other computer tools.
- Team-oriented and self-motivated, with the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Comfortable standing, walking, and performing repetitive tasks for extended periods.
