Job Description Summary
Responsible for all aspects of payroll for retail store and non-exempt corporate employees. Payroll manager will lead a team of payroll professionals to perform the core departmental functions of managing the daily, weekly, and bi-weekly payroll preparation and processes; filing payroll tax reports; reconciling payroll ledger accounts; preparing management reports; and maintaining accurate payroll records.
Essential Job Functions :
- Manages computation of pay according to company policy, balances the payroll accounts by resolving discrepancies and reviews payroll to ensure accuracy of employees’ pay.
- Determines payroll liabilities by approving the calculation of employee federal and state income and social security taxes, and employer's social security, unemployment, garnishments and workers compensation payments.
- Directs preparation of periodic, monthly, quarterly and annual management reports.
- Accomplish Departmental objectives by determining and assigning work procedure / schedules and by improving efficiency within Payroll Department; includes recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training Payroll employees and planning, monitoring, and appraising their job performance and results.
- Determines & assigns work procedures and work schedules and expedites workflow within Payroll Department.
- Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying and implementing existing and new legislation / regulations; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
- Maintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
