Job Summary

Responsibilities
- Manage and follow up on outstanding medical accounts to ensure timely payment.
- Review patient accounts for accuracy and completeness, including verifying insurance information.
- Communicate effectively with patients regarding their account status, payment options, and any disputes.
- Utilize knowledge of DRG, ICD-9, and ICD-10 coding to resolve billing issues.
- Collaborate with medical records staff to obtain necessary documentation for claims processing.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant laws and regulations related to medical collections.
- Document all collection activities accurately in the appropriate systems.
- Work closely with insurance companies to resolve claims denials and discrepancies.
Experience
- Previous experience in a medical office or healthcare setting is required.
- Proven experience in medical collections, demonstrating an understanding of collection processes and best practices.
- Familiarity with medical coding systems (ICD-9, ICD-10) and medical terminology is essential.
- Experience working with electronic health record (EHR) systems or other relevant software is preferred.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail for reviewing accounts and identifying discrepancies.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are necessary for effective patient interaction.
