Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Medical Collector to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical office operations and collections, with a solid understanding of medical terminology and coding systems. This role is essential in ensuring timely collection of outstanding accounts while maintaining positive relationships with patients and healthcare providers.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and follow up on outstanding medical accounts to ensure timely payment.
  • Review patient accounts for accuracy and completeness, including verifying insurance information.
  • Communicate effectively with patients regarding their account status, payment options, and any disputes.
  • Utilize knowledge of DRG, ICD-9, and ICD-10 coding to resolve billing issues.
  • Collaborate with medical records staff to obtain necessary documentation for claims processing.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant laws and regulations related to medical collections.
  • Document all collection activities accurately in the appropriate systems.
  • Work closely with insurance companies to resolve claims denials and discrepancies.

Experience

  • Previous experience in a medical office or healthcare setting is required.
  • Proven experience in medical collections, demonstrating an understanding of collection processes and best practices.
  • Familiarity with medical coding systems (ICD-9, ICD-10) and medical terminology is essential.
  • Experience working with electronic health record (EHR) systems or other relevant software is preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail for reviewing accounts and identifying discrepancies.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are necessary for effective patient interaction.

Pay: $18.82 - $19.60 per hour
