-Educational requirement: university, or equivalent degree in Occupational Health, Safety or Environmental. Professional certification in HSE-related field preferred.

This is a small facility so this person will be wearing the hat of a manager and an HSE engineer. They will need to be able to not only understand the environment, but also be actively working on the floor to implement processes. This will be a hands-on position.
Key Responsibilities: Performs routine functions related to a site's HSE requirements, objectives and targets, and the overall Health, Safety and Environmental Management System (HSEMS) with the goal of achieving a working environment free of injuries. Routine functions may include manage visual site inspections, investigating incidents and accidents, HSE data gathering, training and coaching employees for HSE matters, champion HSE policies, procedures, practices, & injury prevention programs , such as ergonomic, industrial hygiene, LOTO, environmental as others required by OSHA, EPA/DNR & Cummins.
Contributes to daily health, safety and environmental operations within the site(s) providing support to solve complex technical issues. Leads hazard identification, environmental aspect identification and risk assessment programs to identify risk improvement opportunities and gaps in health, safety and environmental compliance obligations. Drives targets and objectives for the design, implementation and maintenance of complex hazard prevention and control systems to reduce or eliminate potential risk.
Develops and leads training, skills development and internal communications related to hazard prevention and control for employees within the site(s). Leads development of technical content ensuring it is up to date, controlled and available while adhering to data privacy regulations.
Evaluates and interprets site health, safety and environmental data, legal compliance findings, and internal and external audit results to develop improvement plans using a risk-based, data driven approach.
Contributes to site(s) Health, Safety, Environmental Management Systems review annually in conformance with Cummins internal requirements. Participates in site audit preparation and formal audit processes.
Coaches and develops cross-functional teams and/or direct reports based on stakeholder feedback, and observations. Actively seeks opportunities for self-development through professional health, safety and environmental organizations, as a champion of emerging trends.
